neighbourhood watch

Contact: NON-EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBER IS -   101

101 is the new number to call when you want to contact your local police - when it's less urgent than a 999 call.  The three digit number can be used for reporting incidents which do not require an urgent response.

About - After a number of local incidents gave cause for concern, a public meeting which took place in the village hall on 14th July 2009 saw six new ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ schemes start namely for Birtley, Brampton Bryan, Byton, Deerfold, Lingen & Willey.

The Neighbourhood Watch signs, which are attached to the village nameplates had proven to be an active deterrent in other areas, so with this in mind, a door-to-door collection was made. This collection was received with great support, nearly all residential houses giving freely to the scheme. Therefore, the cost of the three signs was met and a small amount was returned to all the contributors. The fourth sign was purchased through the parish council precept.

We are very pleased to say that crime here in Lingen is a rare thing and we hope to keep it that way.
